Asher's latest obsession has been the GPS. He loves to watch the screen while we're driving in the car, reporting approximately every 10 seconds what speed I am driving. He follows on the map to see how far we are from our destination and announces how much longer it will be until we get there. Today he exhausted himself running around the backyard to see how fast the GPS would record him going. I was especially thrilled when he challenged his brothers to see if they could break his record. Exhausting them all with no effort on my part, dreamy. By the way, none of them could run faster than him, even though he does have the shortest legs. Scott could barely beat him, impressive little runner that boy is!
He was getting frustrated tonight when he was downstairs and couldn't get the GPS to connect. Scott explained to him how satellites worked and showed him on the internet about how they are circling the earth and floating in space. Asher was thrilled by all of the information. It obviously had some meaning to him we learned as he said his prayers tonight and included, "...please help me to learn more about satellites and to not get mad when my GPS can't find the satellite..."
What will be next? A few weeks ago, after returning from our New Orleans trip, he was obsessed with x-ray machines. He wanted to stay at the security gate and watch the x-ray machine that was checking passengers bags as long as we would let him. Once home, he wanted to look at every picture on the internet we could find and to tell him "how much dollars they cost." He wants to own one. Gee, can't wait to go through security whenever I come over for dinner at his place, unless he never moves out and gets his own place because he's still saving up for his x-ray machine.
