Check It Off the List...

I've been wanting to go to Mt. Rushmore since Scott and I were first married and I discovered that SkyWest flew into Rapid City, South Dakota.  In my mind, it seemed like it would be this immense, amazing spectacle- that you'd be standing right in front of Washington's nose and it would be taller than you.  The actual experience was a bit difference.  Scott and I both had the same reaction- it seemed much smaller than we were expecting.  I think it's because you aren't able to get near as close as I thought we would be able to.  The boys had a great time hiking up to it NOT on the designated trail.

I was not at all excited about going to the Reptile Gardens, but Scott assured me it had such rave reviews that we just had to go.  All I could think about was how disgusting the reptile house at Hogle Zoo is- the smell is enough to trigger a gag reflex and I feel like I need a shower when we leave.  Reptile Gardens was a much better experience and no gagging on my part.

After inserting a quarter, you can ask this chicken one of the yes or no questions listed and she will peck a response.
Oakley asked if he would win the lottery, which she said yes to.
Asher asked if he was mom's favorite, which she said yes to.
Eli asked if the chicken crossed the road, which she also answered in the affirmative.

There was a dinosaur park with a lot of different dinosaur statues for the kids to climb on.

The last stop on our way to the airport was an antique car and motorcycle museum.  It was a husband and wife who have collected all of these and restored them.  UNBELIEVABLE!!!  Oakley was in heaven.

Leap and Learn Graduation, Round 1...

Our Asher graduated from his first year of preschool!  What a darling Miss Shaneen is and we are excited he'll get one more year of preschool with her before he marches off to kindergarten.

Easter 2011...

Hunting for eggs - no snow this year!

Checking out what the Bunny left in the baskets.

Opening Easter surprises that came from Grandparents in Idaho.

The boys had matching Easter outfits.  Why is there only a picture of Oakley in his new clothes?  It's a mystery... must have been a crazy morning.  The all were lookin' good, that's for sure.

Countdown...

They boys have started countdown to summer jars.  They placed a marble in their jar for each day of school they have left.  Their joy increases as the number decreases, I can't say the same for myself.  All three home all day for 3 months... what's a mother to do?  Tana said she remembers her Mom telling her the day school got out, "Your vacation starts today, mine starts in 3  months."  I'm siding with Paula on this one.

Entertainment...

Eli has always been one that is great at entertaining himself, including in some very creative ways.  And you thought there was only one way to wear undershirts and underwear....
