I've been wanting to go to Mt. Rushmore since Scott and I were first married and I discovered that SkyWest flew into Rapid City, South Dakota. In my mind, it seemed like it would be this immense, amazing spectacle- that you'd be standing right in front of Washington's nose and it would be taller than you. The actual experience was a bit difference. Scott and I both had the same reaction- it seemed much smaller than we were expecting. I think it's because you aren't able to get near as close as I thought we would be able to. The boys had a great time hiking up to it NOT on the designated trail.
I was not at all excited about going to the Reptile Gardens, but Scott assured me it had such rave reviews that we just had to go. All I could think about was how disgusting the reptile house at Hogle Zoo is- the smell is enough to trigger a gag reflex and I feel like I need a shower when we leave. Reptile Gardens was a much better experience and no gagging on my part.

After inserting a quarter, you can ask this chicken one of the yes or no questions listed and she will peck a response.
Oakley asked if he would win the lottery, which she said yes to.
Asher asked if he was mom's favorite, which she said yes to.
Eli asked if the chicken crossed the road, which she also answered in the affirmative. |

There was a dinosaur park with a lot of different dinosaur statues for the kids to climb on. |
The last stop on our way to the airport was an antique car and motorcycle museum. It was a husband and wife who have collected all of these and restored them. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Oakley was in heaven.
